THE BASICS
What pH 8.5 means
The pH scale runs from 0 to 14. Seven is neutral; 8.5 is mildly alkaline. This describes the water, not a change to your blood pH.
Your lungs and kidneys regulate your blood's acid–base balance.

THE SCIENCE OF WATER
Why drink alkaline water?
Understand what pH 8.5 actually means, how minerals fit in, and why verified water quality matters more than marketing promises.
See ION certifications & lab reportsWHAT'S INSIDE
Minerals and composition
Some alkaline waters contain minerals such as calcium and magnesium. The amounts depend on the source and formulation, so check the product label or lab report.
Explore testing informationHYDRATION
Hydration and everyday use
Alkaline water supplies fluid, just like other safe drinking water. For most people, high-quality ordinary water hydrates just as well.
Drink enough safe water throughout your day.
QUALITY FIRST
Safety is more than pH
Source protection, appropriate treatment, hygienic bottling and regular checks matter for every drinking water. pH alone cannot establish purity or safety.

GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK
Clear answers, not exaggerated promises.
Does alkaline water change your body's pH?
In healthy people, the body tightly regulates blood pH. Drinking alkaline water has not been shown to meaningfully change it.
Is alkaline water better than normal water?
For most people, no clear overall health advantage over safe ordinary drinking water has been established. Some early studies investigate specific uses, but results are not conclusive.
Is alkaline water suitable for everyone?
People with kidney disease, mineral restrictions or other medical concerns should ask a healthcare professional about water and mineral intake. Alkaline water is not a treatment for any medical condition.
